A Mom's Review of The Pacifier Starring Vin Diesel Essay

Vin Diesel is the Man with the Plan

If you ask me who my top favorite actors are Vin Diesel is one of them. There’s just something about his deep voice, bald head, and muscular physique that I can’t resist. I first became aware of Vin Diesel when he starred in the 2001 film Pitch Black. A year later, like everyone else, I fell in love with this powerful actor when he starred in the first Fast & Furious. My love affair grew over the next several years as Diesel appeared in The Chronicles of Riddick, A Man Apart, and xXx. Then in 2005, Diesel starred in the Disney film The Pacifier. It was this role that sealed Diesel’s never ending place on my personal list of the top five actors.

Why I Loved and Still Love The Pacifier

Believe it or not, in this film, Diesel finds himself as an impromptu babysitter. Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel) is a Navy SEAL that has disappointed his superiors when he fails to protect a crucial important scientist. Wolfe’s punishment is to travel to the scientists’ home and protect his children. Unbeknownst to Wolfe, the scientist has five children whom prove to be quite a handful.

Another Side of Vin Diesel

One of the reasons I enjoyed this movie so much was because it gave audiences a chance to see a different side of him. Since this movie released in 2005, most people were use to Diesel playing a hero or a tough guy. In The Pacifier, we get to see a different side of the actor. Not only does he protect the five children in the movie, but he also bonds with them. For example, in the film Diesel has to pacify the children to get their co-operation (hence the name…The Pacifier.) He does this is by playing den mother, driving carpools, dealing with teenage girl drama, and teaching the kids how to stick up for themselves. Wolfe also remains faithful to his duties and defends the children against people who are searching for their dad’s experiments.

If you are looking for a great, feelgood movie that you and your kids can watch together, you will love The Pacifier from Walt Disney Studios.
