A Book Based On A Movie Essay
Have you ever read a book based on a movie? One day, I was sitting down, with two of my friends, thinking about reading a book (Yes! I read while with friends. What can I say? I’m weird! I’m a nerd! I’m a dork!).
I was reading the back of the book trying to decide if I wanted to read the book or not. The book was titled “Still Alice” and it was written by Lisa Genova. The cover had a photo of a red headed actress on it by the name of Julianne Moore and “Now A Motion Picture From Sony Classics” was written on the cover.
Anyway, while I was reading the back of the book to learn what it was about, Nina V. asked me “What kind of book do you got there?” Before I could answer, Ashley B. said “It’s based on the movie!” I quickly responded, “The book came before the movie.” Nina said “Most likely” and we laughed at Ashley’s dumb moment.
I was quickly reminded of a time when I was a kid after I saw the Robin Williams movie Jumanji for the first time. As a kid, I wanted to be a writer when I grew up so when I first saw the movie Jumanji I turned to Ashley G. and my sister, Toni P., and I said to them “I’m going to write the book to Jumanji and sell it.” I didn’t know then that Jumanji was based on a children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg.
Neither Ashley not Toni said anything to my ambition to write the book to the Jumanji movie. They both probably thought I was silly. They just looked at me and they were speechless.
Well, I never wrote that book. I only tried once but all I got wrote was barely even a paragraph before I quit and decided to do something else. I guess you can say I procrastinated. Should I finish that book? LOL! I was a weird kid. It was a good thing I didn’t write that book because that would have been plagiarism. I would have plagiarized a book I never even read.
The 1995 Jumanji was a very good movie but I never read the book. However, I did decide to read Still Alice and I found it to be a very good book. It was made into a movie starring Julianna Moore, Alec Baldwin and Kristen Stewart.
